Animal Update

Animal Update
Sunshine the cow is still living with us. After trying to roam around the village too many times, she was finally put on a leash like all the other cows in Samoa. Sunshine is still cute even though she is growing up so fast.
The three dogs are doing well. Champ is my favorite as he loves going everywhere with me, to the bus stop, to church, it seems like he will always be my personal escort. The old dog that I have never learned his name is doing well. He just mopes around the house. Mufasa, who was the puppy we got in December, keeps running away from home during the day to visit her birth parents. He still doesn’t listen, but hopefully that will change.
I learned today that our cat likes to eat supo esi.
Last week we got a new addition to our animal family. We now have a horse. I don’t think he has a name yet, but he is beautiful. (I found out later that it is a neighbors horse….tied to our trees…. I still think he needs a name though!)

ANIMAL LEARNING

Many things reside in our houses…termites, ants, cockroaches, cats, dogs, pigs, chickens, cows, little lizards, big black lizards, as well as many other things.
I have learned much about insects by observing them during my down time. Here are some of the observations that I have come up with. (Some with the help from other volunteers…)
1. Some termites only come out during certain hours of the night.
2. Chickens eat cockroaches
3. Cats seem to eat everything you give them…except taro….so do they eat cockroaches too?
4. Dogs eat babies diapers
5. Cows like to pretend they are human
6. The pigs chase the chickens, and the dogs chase the pigs.
7. Believe it or not ants like water. In face there is a colony of them growing on our water cooler.

Animals

Animals
In my house we have 3 dogs (1 of them being a puppy), 2 cats and a baby cow. The cow was born right before I got to my village and I love spending time with Sunshine. She is just like a dog. When I go outside to read my book, she sometimes comes and lays her head in my lap to be pet. The other day when I was doing laundry she came over and started licking me to get attention while I was trying to wring out my clothes.
Our puppy Mufasa keeps running away from home to where his birth parents are. My sister is worried that she is going to lose him. He is an obnoxious little guy, so either way would be good for me.
The other two dogs are so sweet and come over to me whenever they see me….probably because I may be the only one who has ever pet them…
The cats are so frightened of me. I try to pet them and they seriously make a mad dash whenever they see me.
As you can tell my favorite of our animals is the cow and I would love to have a pet calf when I grow up.
